FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you're new to chiropractic or new to our office, you may have some questions. Here's a short list of some of the most common questions we receive.
➤ Why chiropractic?
I treat the cause rather than just covering up the pain. When our muscles and joints hurt, it often is due to the way we move (or don’t move), so we correct the movement to get rid of the pain. Using a combination of adjustments and physical rehabilitation exercises, we can improve your mobility, strength, and coordination so that injuries can be avoided in the future.
➤ What kind of schooling does a chiropractor need?
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree, we have to attend an accredited chiropractic college for an additional 3.5 years to earn a doctorate in chiropractic. The last year is spent working in a clinic treating patients alongside licensed chiropractors.
➤ What is the difference between a chiropractor and a sports chiropractor?
I focus on treating anyone from college level athletes to your weekend warriors. In addition to typical chiropractic techniques, I perform and in depth analysis of your movement to determine how to treat your injuries and then how to prevent them. Reducing pain is just one part of the treatment. Ultimately, I want you to live, perform, run, and lift better and without pain.
➤ Do chiropractors only treat back pain?
If it’s a joint or a muscle, a chiropractor can treat it. Pain often involves more than just the spine and adjustments alone aren’t enough. Back pain, neck pain, headaches, knee pain, shoulder injuries, and strained muscles are all examples of ailments I see in my office every week.
➤ What is the “cracking” sound that happens with adjustments?
Our joints have fluid in them to lubricate and absorb impact. The adjustment stretches the joint, creating bubbles that pop and cause that sound.
➤ I don’t like the cracking. Do I have to be adjusted?
Not at all. There are many ways to treat pain and improve your mobility. You will not be asked to do anything that makes you uncomfortable.
➤ If I come once, do I have to come forever?
No. We do not lock you into a contract or anything like that. At the end of your first appointment, you will receive a clear plan to treat your pain with a timeline. Once you are pain free, we do encourage a proactive approach to health that includes occasional check ups, but you will not be forced into recurring visits.
➤ Do you accept my insurance?
We do not submit claims to insurance, but flex spending cards or health savings accounts are accepted. We accept cash, check, and credit card payments. Please call for pricing!
